Warning signs of emotional abuse

  • Constantly putting you down or making you feel worthless
  • Controlling what you do, who you see, and what you say
  • Telling you that you are to blame for the abuse and their bad behavior
  • Threatening you or making you feel unsafe
  • Ignoring you or isolating you from your friends and family
  • Making you the subject of jokes and humiliating you in front of others

Here’s what we have to SAY!

  • If you are being emotionally abused, it is important to get help. Talk to a trusted adult, such as a parent, teacher, or counsellor.
  • Find out what a healthy relationship should look like.
  • Don’t be afraid to say no. It’s okay to set boundaries and say no to things that you don’t want to do.
  • Spend time with people who make you feel good about yourself. Surround yourself with supportive friends and family members who love and care about you
  • Learn how to leave an unhealthy relationship safely.
