You are at a friend’s school formal that you have been invited to. You don’t know many people there, but you are placed at a table where you know some people even though they are from another school.
One of the guys at the table tells some jokes that are extremely sexist and misogynistic. The other girls and guys at the table are laughing. You can’t get over it.
What action would/could you take?

- You could speak up by saying things like “I don’t think is funny” or “These jokes are offensive”
- You could show your disapproval in your facial expressions and body language.
- You could discourage the others in your group from laughing or joining in.
- These types of sexist behaviours help foster an environment that promotes inequality and can lead to other problems such as violence against women.
