At the restaurant where you work, a senior member of staff is constantly speaking down to staff members, on numerous occasions, you have seen staff members getting upset.
This person puts junior staff down and on occasions has made comments that are belittling and offensive. They are very demanding and speak to staff in an abrupt, insensitive way. They are inflexible about working hours, leave etc yet seem to keep their own hours and come and go as they please.
They seem to get away with treating junior staff members badly. No one seems to challenge them about their behaviour?
What action would/could you take?
What we SAY!
- You could speak up and challenge if you feel safe to do so.
- Speak to someone in your team and see if they have noticed this too.
- Speak to another manager.
- Support the staff members who have suffered.
- Follow the staff policy for complaints and grievances.
